Hitchcock Revised Edition Francois Truffaut Helen G Scott 8601300365183 Books
The original book is indispensable. The dialogue between Hitchcock and Truffaut is priceless. On that account, the book is five stars, and a must have. But this edition is complete garbage because the reproduction of the film stills is absolutely dismal. The stills are murky, dark, and dull. It does not compare to the edition I found in a used bookstore thirty something years ago. That was the edition with the black cover, and white lettering. Regrettably, it disappeared. I must've loaned it to someone, I don't know. But in the version I had, the stills were sharp, crystal clear reproductions. Examining the shot by shot of the shower scene, or Arbogast's tumble down the stairs was spectacular! But, in this version, it makes me want to scream a blood curdling scream! The quality is complete and utter crap... criminal! I highly recommend seeking out a previous edition, if at all possible.

Hitchcock Revised Edition Francois Truffaut Helen G Scott 8601300365183 Books Reviews
You don't have to admire Hitchcock to enjoy the discussions of techniques he employs to great effect in his films -- Truffaut asks the sort s of probing questions that I probably wouldn't know to ask, so I value his insights as an auteur director himself.
This book contains the most complete self-assessment by Alfred Hitchcock of his career and approach to movie-making that is available. Most of the material comes from taped interviews that Truffaut made with Hitchcock in 1962. The 1984 revised edition contains additional material that Truffaut compiled to round out the treatment of Hitchcock's long career. A great resource!
Was going through my film books, and I couldn't find this book - finally I ordered it. Of course, once it arrived - I found my old copy - still I was happy to have the new clean copy. an instant classic and happy to keep it out on display.
Was a gift, and the recipient was thrilled! An awesome, in-depth look at Hitchcock through the eyes of Francois Truffaut; that's genius squared!
The book reveals so much about both men and about film; it's an absolutely fascinating read.
What could possibly be greater than a series of conversations between two famous directors, Alfred Hitchcock and Francois Truffaut? They speak a common language and each brings out something in the other as they discuss many of Hitchcock's best films - and some even Hitchcock didn't like very much. Fascinating.
A very boring book. i find nothing with value here, just a small talk with A.H, nothing more. this book is only for those who are "hardcore" fans of A.H, and watched all of his films. however, it is not what some people claim it is. while reading it, i just wanted to get to page 350 as soon as possible. maybe it's because i am not a "hardcore" fan.
Wonderful incite into how Hitchcock made his wonderful films. Truffaut does great interviews that bring out a lot of the personal thoughts and ideas of Alfred Hitchcock. A great read and lots of photos.
