As a psychotherapist and someone who leads mindfulness training, I highly recommend Meditation as a Way of Life. Rev. Alan Pritz has accomplished the amazing of feat of integrating deep spiritual concepts/practices with a down-to-earth and approachable style. He provides a rich storehouse of information, one that is obviously the fruit of many decades of personal meditation practice, devotion to his teachers, and significant study. Alan seamlessly and respectfully weaves together many spiritual traditions, making it accessible to all. The book would be a wonderful resource to anyone interested in meditation, particularly those who want to incorporate a deeper spiritual dimension to their practice. While such a book could easily become heavy or dry in the hands of another author, Alan brings an engaging emotional tone to the book and a wonderful sense of humor. Well done!

Meditation as a Way of Life Philosophy and Practice Alan L Pritz 9780835609289 Books Reviews

An enjoyable read that has provided guidance and answers. Detailed explanation of a proven methodology with results. Good for those interested in initiating a devout and spiritual path -without being religious
It is perhaps unseemly to promote ones own work so I wanted, instead, to express gratitude for the opportunity to write such a book and most importantly, to be inspired by one whose teachings are worth sharing.
Very well written and easy to read
A very insightful book, beautifully and succinctly written. The author approaches the subject humbly and matter of factly, drawing on many of his own quixotic experiences that drew him to the practice of meditation and in particular the philosophy of Yogananda. Anyone interested in the question of the value of meditation for one's life and well being will find this book a terrific guide.
I have been a frequent meditator for over 30 years and also familiar with Yogananda's teachings. Alan has put together a great resource for anyone beginning or deepinging their spiritual work through meditation. I thought the background and foundation he paints is excellent and although not new to me was a great reminder of these truths. His practical applications and practice exercises are very useful. In all ways he has done well at creating a thoughtful and practical guidebook that makes sense to peope of varied backgrounds and traditions.
In Meditation as a Way of Life Rev. Alan Pritz makes it clear that meditation is a vehicle not only for enhancing mindfulness but for accessing the divine, and he provides a lucid guide to help readers undertake this journey. What Pritz accomplishes is exceptional not only does he distill ancient Vedic wisdom and the teachings of Yogananda for a Western audience; he demonstrates how such wisdom can be applied to life in today’s world, writing with warmth, humor, and anecdotes from his own life. This book is full of eloquent wisdom and practical guidance for “harvest[ing] the fruits of Spirit latent within” (p. 5)—and it’s delivered in an inviting voice that makes it all approachable. A must-have for new and seasoned meditators alike.
This book is awesome! It reinforces some things that I've already heard and studied in one concise book. It isn't a "religious" book, and in it, Alan quotes from various religious disciplines. He explains how meditation can highly enhance any spiritual practice, with examples, and describes meditation techniques in detail which can be used to aid in this personal journey. This book is highly recommended!!! Enjoy!
